With the pandemic outbreak of the COVID-19 Coronavirus disease you can’t seem to get away from the reporting of recommendations to “Socially Distance” yourself from other people. Even to the degree of “Socially Isolating” yourself to the confines of your home.

How horrible must this be that people must distance and avoid other people! I hear it every day just “how hard this must be on them” or “to watch for signs of depression while isolating”.

I have two things to say to you whiners about socially distancing and social isolating woes:

  1. Waah!
  2. Welcome to the world of Autism !

For those of us on the Spectrum, we’ve been experiencing social distancing, and social isolation ALL OUR LIVES! Yet, there you NT people are complaining about a few weeks or months of social separation.

Autism Never Gets This Type of Publicity and Awareness, But The Mortality Rate It Is In Fact Worse Than The Coronavirus

Autism – The Facts

  • More than ¹13.5 million Americans live with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Autism is incurable
  • People die because of Autism. A ²twenty year scientific study indicated a the cumulative incidence of suicide in the ASD population was 0.17%

Coronavirus – The Facts

  • ³At the time of the writing of this story, in the United States there have been 43,734 confirmed cases
  • COVID-19 Coronavirus is incurable (as their is no vaccine)
  • People die because of the COVID-19 Coronavirus. At the time of the writing of this story, in the United States there have been ³553 deaths.

The Math

Autism

3.5 Million Americans with Autism
5950 Deaths by Suicide (0.17% of 3,500,000 = 5950)

Caronavirus

43,734 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus
553 Deaths from COVID-19 Coronavirus (553 = 1.264462% of 43.774)

The Results

5397 More Autistic People will consistently die by suicide in all years moving into the future. (5950-553 = 5397)

At some point, the Caronnavirus will be contained and a vaccine (cure) will be discovered, and no one will die in the future.

Comparatively, there never will be a cure for Autism, and ethically speaking: nor should there be; but unlike the Caronavirus, deaths in Autism will persist as suicides rates continue to climb.

“For all of us who have Autism? We’ve got this. You’ll never find anyone with Autism standing shouder-to-shoulder in a packed Walmart. 6ft of Separation? Psssh….Our protocol is more than twice that…!
